If you want your date to be really impressed with your car, leave the Ferrari at home and take her out in your Chevy Camaro instead...

The chunky, muscular and aggressively sporty Chevrolet Camaro may have been designed to appeal to men, but according to Canadian website Driving.ca, women love the car even more. ‘Unlike the older versions of the Camaro where you probably had the typical motorhead, male buyer, this is totally the opposite,’ says one sales manager at a Chevrolet dealership, who adds that young and middle-aged women make up a significant percentage of Camaro customers.

As many as 50% of all V6-engined Chevy Camaros sold in Canada are bought by women (the number drops to around 20% if sales of the V8 Camaro are also included), who use epithets like ‘sexy’ and ‘cool’ to describe the GM muscle car. While older, mostly male enthusiasts tend to go for the 6.2-litre V8 Camaro, the younger lot – including most female customers – opt for the 3.6-litre V6, which still offers more than adequate performance, coupled with better fuel efficiency.

General Motors, which started production of the Camaro in March this year, has already produced around 60,000 units of the car and the company is struggling to keep up with the demand for this car. Prices for the car start at $27,000 for the V6 model and $37,000 for V8.

The Chevy Camaro, which has also starred in the Transformers movies, is currently ahead of the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang in terms of sales in the US.
