The Renault Twizzy, Kangoo, Zoe and Fluence EV concepts are supposed to provide a preview of the company's production-spec electric cars that will be launched in 2011

Renault unveiled four electric car concepts at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show. These concepts are supposed to ‘preview’ the French car manufacturer’s EV range, which is expected to go on sale in 2011.

The four EVs shown include the Twizy, Zoe, Fluence and Kangoo Z.E. concepts. The Twizy Z.E. is a two-seater vehicle fitted with a 15kW motor. Its acceleration is comparable to a 125cc motorcycle and its top speed is 75km/h.

The Zoe Z.E., Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Z.E. are fitted with a 70kW electric motor and have a range of 160km. All four vehicles will have multiple options for recharging, including standard recharge, quick recharge and quick battery swap.

According to Renault, electric vehicles represent the clean-break solution which can put zero-emission mobility within everyone's reach. ‘In line with the brand's Renault eco² environmental policy, Renault Z.E. electric vehicles are poised to be marketed on a large scale to take a decisive stand on the environment,’ says a press release from the company.

Renault will start selling its affordable production electric vehicles in 2011, with the Renault-Nissan Alliance targeting number one status in mass-market zero-emission vehicle sales.
