In today’s world of motoring where ‘Green’ is the most fashionable word, there is a capsule of crazy-minded guys who go all out to satisfy their lust for something exciting. Something… outlawed. There are purists – mentalists – who come out at nights, close the roads and go street racing. This is talked about in hushed whispers but the entire world knows about it. There is a constant battle between such rebels and cops; so much so that it actually proved as a perfect canvas for Electronic Arts to design a series of games on – Need for Speed.
Rest, as all of mankind knows, is history. Every person in his youth must have had a go at one or the other form of this series. If you have not, you’re simply not interested in anything that has ‘exciting’ attached to it, or are just one of those oh-I’ve-got-my-IT-book-to-read sort of guys. Seek help. Better still, get a life.
I’ve had a go at almost every Need for Speed game, right from NFS 2 (that was the time I got my first PC, so) to Undercover; going through Porsche Unleashed, Underground series, Most Wanted, Carbon and Pro Street in the process. I tried NFS Nitro too, but didn’t quite like it, to be honest.
And now, there is a new one. NFS Hot Pursuit – 2010 edition. You’d expect it to have grown in graphics and style and depth, and you’d be right. It surely has, by the looks of it. But what is more important is that the battle between the cops and baddies is going to be fought till the extent of last-man-standing as was in battles of the by-gone era. Okay, I am exaggerating a bit; but you get my point.

There is an official video posted here. Enjoy, and allow your lust for the game to get the better of you. Deeper the longing, better it will be. I am desperate already.
The much loved and much hated outlaw brethren against the might of cops – let the game begin!
