Hyundai has announced prices for its new SUV/MPV crossover, the ix35, which starts at £16,495 (Rs 11.80 lakh) in the UK. The ix35 is powered by a 2.0-litre common-rail diesel engine and even the base model is equipped with bits like 17-inch alloy wheels, ESP, air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, heated front and rear seats, electric door mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, leather clad steering wheel, reverse parking sensors and a trip computer!
The Hyundai ix35 will go on sale in Europe in March this year and will be available in 2WD and 4WD versions. Later, Hyundai also plans to add 1.6-litre petrol and 1.7-litre diesel engines to the ix35 line-up.
Last year, we had mentioned the possibility of HMIL launching the ix35 in India and immediately we got a mail from one of Hyundai’s PR guys saying that the company has no such plans. Shortly thereafter, HMIL had announced its plans to bring in the new Santa Fe to India in 2010. However, given its styling, pricing and utility factors, we still believe the ix35 would be a brilliant choice for the Indian market. Maybe HMIL will rethink its decision after all…? :-)
