
Ford India registered a 35% increase in sales in February this year, at 2,636 units, as compared to 2,441 units sold in February 2008. The company’s sales in February this year also marked a 35% increase over January 2009 sales, which stood at 1,956 units.
Ford India actually does not seem to be going anywhere much. Its newer cars – the Fusion hatchback, Fiesta sedan and Endeavour SUV – are not doing very well in the market, though the Ikon, which has been updated many times over the last 10 years, is still managing to soldier on. Ford needs a complete and drastic rethink on its India portfolio and the company needs to be out with that small car, which it has been promising for ages, right now!
