
| Jidosha Seizo Co. Ltd. was the founder of Nissan Motor Company. Ltd and was established in Yokohama in the year 1933. Another Japanese giant that has been troubling the American automakers, Nissan is currently headquartered in Tokyo but intends to move to Yokohama by the end of this decade. The year 1999 saw Nissan enter into an alliance with Renault of France. Formerly marketing vehicles under the Datsun brand name, Nissan is currently the third largest automaker in Japan. Spearheading its foray into India was with the globally successful X-Trail SUV. Nissan's second offering, the luxury sedan Teana, put another feather in the company's cap. Rumors have it that Nissan is contemplating to bring out a small car in association with its French brother, Renault. The company also manufactures and designs various other products such as pleasure boats, machinery and communications satellites, but is mainly engaged in the production and sales of vehicles and spare parts. The company is engaged in joint ventures abroad, and Nissan has established assembly plants in several foreign countries, including Australia, Peru, Mexico, the United States, and Germany. |
