Mercedes-Benz, its birth dating back to June 1926, is a German brand renowned for introducing many path breaking technologies in the automotive industry. . A three-pointed star, the company's official logo, was designed by Gottlieb Daimler to show the ability of his motors for land, air and sea use.

With the aim to serve the customers in India with the latest products and technological excellence from the Mercedes-Benz, Daimler Chrysler entered the Indian market and set up Mercedes-Benz India Ltd. way back in 1994. In January 2000, Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W 210), 'Top of the line' E 240 Petrol and E 220 CDI Diesel versions were launched with several advanced technology and mentionable, high end features. It has a long-term commitment to the Indian market and has full support of its parent company for its future plans in India.

One of the most respected automotive brands, Mercedes has a clear upper hand over its rivals in the Indian market owing mainly to the established dealer/service network. Introduction of the latest international products in India proves that the company is considering India as a serious market. In 2007 Mercedes-Benz launched the SLK-Class and CLS-Class.

The C-Class sets new standards in the entry-level luxury sedan segment with its innovative technology, array of safety features, plush interiors and exceptional power. The car exudes a distinctive aura of class, style, and comfort. It is available in two variants in India: a C200 Kompressor (Petrol) and a C220 CDI (Diesel). The C200 Kompressor is equipped with a supercharged 1.8-litre petrol engine that delivers 178 bhp, while the C220 CDI is powered by a CRDi 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 170 bhp. Both engines get either a 6-speed MT with overdrive or a 5-speed AT. The exterior is adorned by a wide set of quad-ovoid headlights, revised taillights, and prominent fender flares. 7-spoke alloy wheels accentuate the elegance of the sedan. The car packs plenty of impressive safety features that's typical of Mercedes.

The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class strikes a perfect balance between distinctive styling, unsurpassed comfort, and superior driving performance. The sterling safety, comfort, and convenience features sets it apart from its competition. The CL-Class is available in two variants in India: CL 500 and CL 600. The CL 500 boasts of a powerful 5.5L V8 engine that generates 388 bhp and a peak torque of 530 Nm, while the CL 600 is propelled by a high-performance 5.5-litre, V12 engine that cranks out an impressive 517 bhp and 830 Nm of torque. A 7G-Tronic-seven speed automatic transmission comes standard on the CL-500. The V12 engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Other features available on this car include a 4-zone thermotronic climate control, power-adjustable seats with lumbar support, electrically-adjustable outside mirrors, and a powerful CD/MP3 audio system.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is a fusion of the strong emotive charisma of a coupe and the comfort and practicality of a sedan. CLS has infused a classic look and an inimitable style to its interior after receiving a make-over. The four-seat cabin and elegant exterior styling distinguishes the CLS car most readily from the other Mercedes sedans. The CLS-Class comes in two variants in India: CLS 350 and CLS 500. The CLS 350 comes with a 3.0L V6 engine that produces 272 bhp and the CLS 500 is equipped with a more powerful 5.0L V8 engine that pumps out 230 bhp. A 7-speed automatic transmission comes standard with both engines. The CLS 500 model features an AIRMATIC DC air suspension and a THERMOTRONIC four-zone climate control to provide high levels of comfort and a smooth drive.

A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on the SLK 200 Kompressor, whereas the SLK 350 comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The new interior concept with a black cockpit and aluminium-finished controls offers a high-quality driving environment and features sports seats with a magnesium frame. In the Indian market, the SLK-Class competes with Porsche's 'Boxster' model.
