Mahindra & Mahindra Limited made its entry into the passenger car segment with the Logan in April 2007 under the Mahindra-Renault joint venture. French major, Renault S.A. has been in existence for over a hundred years with its operations commencing in 1899. Famous for building cars like the Clio and Megane, Renault has had much success by launching the Logan worldwide. Coming in from the French automaker's sister concern, Dacia, Logan has created a niche for itself by offering cheap but efficient, comfortable and a reliable motoring experience.

The Mahindra-Renault Logan is a stylish mid-size sedan that hit Indian roads after the partnership of Mahindra & Mahindra and Renault. The Logan is well known for its magnificent performance and technology that is based on Renault's famous space optimization design. This car also provides an excellent combination of comfort, luxury, and power. It is available in ten variants: the 1.4 GL, 1.4 GLE, 1.4 GLX, 1.6 GLS, 1.6 GLS ABS, and 1.6 GLX. are available in petrol and the 1.5 DLE, 1.5 DLS, 1.5 DLS ABS, and 1.5 DLX are available in diesel. Among the petrol variants GL, GLE and GLX are powered by a 75 bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine that gives 75 bhp. The GLX is also available with a 84.5 bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine. The same engine powers the GLS and GLS ABS. All the diesel variants are powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 65 bhp. A smooth 5-speed manual transmission is standard among all the variants. The wide body offers comfortable seating with sufficient headroom and legroom. It is the only car in its class that offers three head-rests in the rear seat.

The new variant of Mahindra Logan is known as Logan Edge". It is available in petrol and diesel versions, with engine capacities in the range of 1.4 to 1.6 liters. Logan Edge will be equipped with a number of useful features, such as reverse parking censor, anti-lock braking and luxurious interiors, apart from some additional safety features. Through the combination of suave looks and innovative features, the company aims to provide the best to the consumers. The special edition of Mahindra Logan promises better fuel efficiency to the consumers. Mahindra Renault is expected to launch the CNG version of Logan soon. The CNG version is expected to be launched in the in the Rs. 5-lakh range. It would cost around Rs. 45,000 more than the existing versions and is being launched with an eye on the rising fuel prices."
