BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH, or Bavarian Motor Works in English), headquartered in Munich, is an independent German automobile manufacturer founded in 1916. BMW is a worldwide manufacturer of high-performance automobiles and motorcycles, and is the current parent company of both the MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands. BMW started manufacturing and selling cars in India in the year 2007. In addition to its sales subsidiary in the Delhi region, it started operating an assembly plant for BMW 5 and 3 series in Chennai. The latest 3, 5 and the 7 series have hit our shores. You can also own the X3 and its big brother the X5 SUVs.

BMW 3 Series

BMW 3 series sedan is a perfect blend of high performance technology and luxury features. Its quality and inviting interiors makes it a status symbol. Available in 3 variants - 320i petrol, 325i petrol, 320d diesel & 320d Highline diesel. The 320i and 325i are powered by 2.0L and 2.5L petrol engines that deliver 136 and 218 bhp respectively. A 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine renders 156 bhp on the 320d variant and 169 bhp on 320d Highline. A refined 6-speed automatic transmission is standard across all the variants. The interior gives a special feel with its burr walnut interior wood trims, leather upholstery, and easy to use controls.

BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5 Series midsize luxury sedan is a blend of genuine appearance and state-of-the-art technology alongwith luxurious interiors. Available in five variants- 525i, 530i (petrol) and 520d, 530d and 530d Highline (diesel). The 5 Series has 2.5L, and 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol engines that power the the 525i, and the 530i respectively. The 520d is powered by a 2.0L Inline 4 diesel engine, whereas 530d and 530d Highline are mated with a 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel engine. The 525i, 530i, 520d, 530d/Highline variants generate 212 bhp, 255 bhp, 215 bhp, 177 bhp and 235 bhp of power respectively. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The BMW 6-Series is a luxury convertible with a blend of style, state-of-the-art technology and luxurious interiors. Available in a single variant - 650i convertible. The 650i derives power from a 4.8L V8 engine that delivers 362 bhp and can make 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 secs. The engine is linked to a 6-speed sport automatic transmission. Double wishbone front suspension and integral aluminium rear suspension offer a smooth ride. Comfortable premium leather seats, fully-automatic convertible roof with thermal and acoustic insulation and active steering make it a world of luxury.

BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7-Series mid-size luxury sedan is a blend of style, modern technology, performance, comforts and luxury. Available in four variants, out of which three are petrol - 740Li, 750Li, and 760Li, and one is diesel - 730Ld. The 730Ld derives power from a 3.0L I-6 engine; a 4.0L engine powers the 740Li; a 4.8L supplies power to the 750Li; while the 760Li comes fitted with a 6.0L engine. Among petrol engines, the 3.0L engine produces 258 bhp of power, the 4.0L generates 306 bhp, the 4.8L churns out 367 bhp and the 6.0L delivers 445 bhp. Among diesel engines, the 3.0L produces 218 bhp while the 4.5L delivers 330 bhp. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard across all the variants.

BMW M, also known as M-Technik or just "M" (for Motorsport) was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. The first racing project was BMW's 3.0 CSL in the late 1970s the first modified street legal road cars were produced for the contracted racecar drivers as their personal vehicles. After the success of BMW M in racing venues and the growing market for high performance sports cars, M introduced cars for sale to the public. The very first M-badged car for sale to the public was the M1, revealed at the Paris Motor Show in 1978.

The BMW X3 is a Sports Activity Vehicle and blends style, state-of-the-art technology and luxury. Available in a petrol variant - 2.5Si. The 2.5Si is powered by a 2.5L I-6 engine, which produces 192 hp and 245 Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The suspension system includes double-joint spring strut front axle and central arm rear axle, and offers a smooth, jerk-free ride. Comfortable seats, power steering, a tiltable steering column and optional sunroof are just a few of the convenience features present in the X3.

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV, which blends style, performance, comforts and modern technology. Available in a single diesel variant - 3.0d. The 3.0L I-6 engine generates 218 bhp. The engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Double-wishbone in the front and light-weight multi-link rear integral suspension absorbs all kinds of road irregularities and offers a smooth ride. Comfortable leather seats, leather-wrapped power steering, a tiltable steering column and height-adjustable driver's seat offer lots of comfort.
